Our History

Galley Hatch

The Galley Hatch Restaurant has been a Seacoast favorite since 1970 when Mike and Kay Tinios first opened the restaurant. Known as a family restaurant that offered delicious food at reasonable prices, the Tinios always treated their customers and staff as part of the family. They created a warm, friendly atmosphere that is welcoming to all.

The tradition continues today with son John Tinios leading the restaurant. Through John’s leadership, the Galley Hatch expanded and renovated to include an award-winning bakery and function capabilities in to the lineup. As regular patrons will tell you - the food and service at the Galley Hatch are consistently excellent! And the pastries, cakes, and pies are truly superior - a beautiful expression of the baking arts.

Our Setting

Located just minutes from the beach in downtown Hampton, the Galley Hatch is a landmark that is well known to locals from Salisbury to Kittery and beyond. Enter through the main lobby where our Bakery and Gift Shop showcases our award winning pastries, cakes, fine hostess gifts, and ready-to-go prepared foods. You will definitely be tempted! Well-known local artist Jon Moore hand-painted the mural of a French Beaujolais village that provides a welcoming entrance to the several Galley Hatch dining room areas, including a sky-lit dining area, a fireplace area, and the central dining area with dark wooden booths. The cozy, easygoing ambiance provides a backdrop for an enjoyable dining experience.

Pelican Room

The Tap Room Bar and Lounge is adjacent to the dining room or accessed from the back entrance amidst ample parking. The intimate, relaxed feeling of seaside English pub with a pine hewn bar and dark wood interior highlighted with brass fixtures, porthole windows, and stained glass is truly an inviting place!

And lastly, the Pelican Function Room is located just up a set of stairs from the Tap Room with its private bar and restrooms. Accented with hand-painted local seaside scenes and a medallion ceiling with inlaid fiber optic lights, it is the perfect setting for a gracious, intimate social event that is sure to impress guests.
